What Now?
Updated:
Small update this time, but I've just finished the work to add caret mode to Textsweeper (version 2026-08-15). You can now play with the arrow keys or hjkl. I added this because it was kind of limiting to only be able to play it with an old school command interface or modern mouse support. I first noticed it when trying to play it on Android in Termux. Most of the other terminal minesweeper clones are all caret controlled, so I figured I should bring it to parody.
I've also been working on a new todo list manager. I'm not fully ready to share it yet, but it's probably not what you think. Nothing like Taskwarrior or Jira. Instead I'm aiming to make a todo list manager for developers instead of project managers. Release hopefully soon. Not planning to target Windows for now but Linux, Mac, and of course BSDs. Hopefully I won't keep you in suspense for long, just working out the last of the pre-release bugs.
Finished Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Meh? All considered it's a pretty mindless AAA game. Quest marker to quest marker. Spam attacks. The nemesis system is fine. Interesting to have basically any human social dynamic besides dialog trees in games. Not enough to really redeem it though. Really can't stand intertextuality. When Gollum showed up my eyes rolled through the back of my head. Had a pretty similar experience at times watching Star Trek: Lower Decks.
Of the two, Lower Decks is definitely better. Watched the whole show after several recommendations. I generally avoid franchises on principal. This time listening to the overwhelming support to watch it paid off (not so much for the former). Sometimes your friends know what they're talking about and other times you question their tastes. So it goes.
Until next time, happy hacking.
