Meow there!

Below is a pet's litter box. Yes, stinky like hell and full of shit.

Tech support was above and beyond. When rented ISP's router started living its own life they quickly came and replaced the power adapter.

That was very first and the only thing they did.

They did not dive into details.

They knew!

Moreover, they gave a spare one!

LOL!!!

And they left the old one. Pet dissected it and replaced the output capacitor.

It works now. Pet has yet another power adapter for two cents.

We all know Chinese are capable to make all sorts of crap. Pet does not blame them, pet blames the internet provider that purveys such crap (on the right) to end users.

What pet bought in past life is on the left and it's quite decent Chinese PSU.

Progress in Chinese PSU design

For kitties who do not get what it's all about, the progress in low end PSU design over past ten years is amazing.

They cut all unnecessary crap, namely input and output filters.

Basically, the output filter isn't much necessary because the router does not need 12V anywhere, has its own DC-DC converter to get 5 (unlikely), 3.3 or lower voltages.

As for input filter and a varistor for surge protection... Yeah, fuck it!

Huge pages is an awkward thing. Pet bears them in mind, but decided not to do in a friendly way for now.

In an article pet stumbled across not so long ago, they enabled huge pages for clang and reported performance gain only 7%.

That's about nothing but they presented it as a huge advantage.

Another point against huge pages is when reallocating small blocks with mremap it won't copy the data.

So without tests it's not clear if huge pages give a real benefit.

Okay, tomorrow must be a sunny day after rainy week. Pet is going to lick balls on the rooftop all day long.

Why not? Pet does not participate in the organized IT slavery.

Went to take a nap.

Phew, the remaining part of this boring round of refactoring is page allocator.

Funny thing pet stumbled across today (yesterday, technically):

Authenticity Problem https://framapiaf.org/@davidrevoy/117043735577793210

And a serious one:

Basically, pet does not care about others and their communitues. But there's still a lot to think about.

One could think AI is an evolution stopper but your brain is cleverer than you think. It will find the way out, eventually.

95% of IT humans are arrogant idiots.

Pet was raised by such arrogant idiots. In the educational system this number reaches 99.9999% Only a few survive.

"We've been programming here for more than 30 years and we haven't heard such a nonsense!!!"

Yeah, you haven't.

Pet is trying not to be an arrogant idiot.

It's fucking hard.

Pet stumbled across an article titled "The Wheels We Keep Reinventing". It's a totally useless reading so pet won't link to it.

The problem is that most wheels are square by design. Especially in the IT. That's why everyone reinvent them trying to make more or less round.

But despite all efforts, especially collective ones, wheels are getting more and more square.

That's why most modern software makes pet puking.

That's why pet is inventing its own wheels

From the other angle, programming is the art and artists do as they see. They may see circles where it's actually a square.

Pet is not an exception.

That's a trap of natural neural network. God's fuckup.

Or a gift. To keep mankind busy. Without activity identities would decay.

Pet changed structure of this site.

Pet is working on PetWay, incorporating allocators from libpussy. This library will be deprecated soon.

Most humans misinterpret the meaning of pet. They naively think it's a furfag. Fuck, no! Pet is a living thing that has a (she-)master and has been doing without money for at least three years.

Pet's personal record is five years and counting. You will never catch me up.
